The firm of Rupert Wood & Son has been at the heart of the local community since it was founded in 1911 by the late Rupert Wood, the present Senior Partners grandfather. At this time the firm occupied one single terraced house on Wellington Road, Ashton Under Lyne and has since expanded to occupy all the properties in its current central location.
Shortly after the Second World War, Mr Rupert Wood was joined by his son Rupert Dean Wood and after by Michael Wood the founders grandson. Mr Michael Wood and his Partner Mr David Lennie who have been with the firm since the early 1970's are the current principles of the practice, and oversee the management of various specialised disciplines of the firm.
An extensive refurbishment of the premises included installing tailor made access for disabled persons using wheelchairs. There are convenient parking facilities within easy walking distance of the office which is situated in a central location in front of the railway station and the headquarters of Tameside Metropolitan borough council. The bus station is also situated close by as well as the new metro link, ensuring the firm is accessible to all.
